About Congenital Hand Differences
Different title .....
Congenital hand differences can occur in 1/1,000 live births, which makes it a fairly common occurrence. The top three are polydactyly (extra fingers), syndactyly (joined fingers), and camptodactyly (bent fingers). In the majority of cases, there are no other genetic problems.
Reconstructive surgery is almost always non-urgent and can be delayed until the first or second year of life.
